Agile Fundamentals
What is agile? Where did it come from, and how can it help me?
  • Become more knowledgeable in agile history in order to leverage agile practices to their full potential
  • Learn how practices within different agile frameworks can be combined to maximize team productivity and efficiency
  • Identify where your team is simply "going through the motions", and learn how you can leverage agile practices as designed
This session will go through a history of agile, including the origins of waterfall, the Toyota Production System and lean manufacturing, the creation of the agile manifesto, and how these all lead to the modern agile development frameworks we use today. By exploring the original design and intent behind agile principles and practices, we'll also uncover common pitfalls to agile adoption, and insights into overcoming them.

Team Emotional Intelligence 2.0
Creating an environment where teams thrive and perform can be challenging; the composition of the team may be off, communication tools get in the way and employee engagement scores across the industry are at historic lows. The good news is that there is science available to guide change leaders in increasing the chances of helping - rather than harming - teams towards high performance and finding inspiration in work.
In this talk, one of the authors of the Harvard Business Review-published Team Emotional Intelligence (TEI) concept, who partnered with an enterprise transformation coach with experience from Nokia, Intel, McAfee and Statoil, explains the science behind TEI and the next generation team framework, called Inspired Teams, which builds on TEI and incorporates concepts from Agile. They will detail the tangible business benefits that result from finding inspiration in work and provide practical guidance on how to get there. At the end of this session, participants will understand how change leaders can create an environment where teams can transcend high performance and unleash Inspired Teams.
