OPENING KEYNOTE: Shakeup and Speedup
Starting new teams and scaling up innovation is more important than ever. The key to success is applying different practices in different stages of the innovation lifecycle. What works for a new business does not work for a mature one, and vice versa. In this talk, we will nosedive into the major good practices for business leaders and product teams, from the moment they have an innovative idea to the day they will scale it up (or screw it up). Everything depends on the lifecycle stage of the new product or service.

Agile Outsourcing
Can you get the agile benefits while outsourcing? What types of outsourcing make sense in an agile world?
The use of contractors and outsourcing of IT development was a major push for many years as businesses focused on their core capabilities. Industries like government couldn't compete with the marketplace for IT skills and so turned to contractors to fill the needs in many organizations. Now, these same organizations feel they need to bring the modern agile ways of working to their organizations. So how do they actually get the benefits of modern agile ways of working and delivering products while continuing to use contractors for most of the work?
This workshop will focus on 3 areas of achieving most of the benefits of modern agile work while continuing to use contracted work. First, how to decide what to outsource. The decision of which pieces or work to use contractors for is the most important. Second, how to actually hire contractors. The procurement process can be evolved to be more agile and to encourage finding contractors that will drive toward the desired collaboration. Finally, how to manage and work with contractors. The day to day grind of working where real delivery will be accomplished.

Agile Fundamentals
What is agile? Where did it come from, and how can it help me?
  • Become more knowledgeable in agile history in order to leverage agile practices to their full potential
  • Learn how practices within different agile frameworks can be combined to maximize team productivity and efficiency
  • Identify where your team is simply "going through the motions", and learn how you can leverage agile practices as designed
This session will go through a history of agile, including the origins of waterfall, the Toyota Production System and lean manufacturing, the creation of the agile manifesto, and how these all lead to the modern agile development frameworks we use today. By exploring the original design and intent behind agile principles and practices, we'll also uncover common pitfalls to agile adoption, and insights into overcoming them.

Leadership in an Agile World
The way teams work is evolving and so is the role of the leader. Agile teams don't want or need someone delegating tasks and micromanaging how the work gets done. Instead, to perform at their best, agile teams need someone who can evolve and adapt. Someone who will trust, support, and enable them. They need a true agile leader!
In this interactive session we will: (1) Examine the key differences between a traditional manager and an agile leader, (2) Share the story of how we have approached coaching managers challenged with this transformation, and (3) practice hands-on tools and techniques that can be used to help managers evolve into an agile leader.
The transformation from traditional manager to agile leader takes work, and not every manager you encounter is excited for their role to change. So, how do you get them on board? How do you coach them through this critical change to ensure the success of their teams? In this interactive session we'll uncover ways to answer these questions.

Team Emotional Intelligence 2.0
Creating an environment where teams thrive and perform can be challenging; the composition of the team may be off, communication tools get in the way and employee engagement scores across the industry are at historic lows. The good news is that there is science available to guide change leaders in increasing the chances of helping - rather than harming - teams towards high performance and finding inspiration in work.
In this talk, one of the authors of the Harvard Business Review-published Team Emotional Intelligence (TEI) concept, who partnered with an enterprise transformation coach with experience from Nokia, Intel, McAfee and Statoil, explains the science behind TEI and the next generation team framework, called Inspired Teams, which builds on TEI and incorporates concepts from Agile. They will detail the tangible business benefits that result from finding inspiration in work and provide practical guidance on how to get there. At the end of this session, participants will understand how change leaders can create an environment where teams can transcend high performance and unleash Inspired Teams.

KEYNOTE :
Seeking agility in any organisation is hardly a controversial idea but making it meaningful and scalable is another matter altogether. In seeking to ‘make' an organisation agile, is our metaphor that of an engineering process in which methods and tools are aligned in an ordered and structured way or something more organic in nature where formal gardens and wild flower areas co-exist and co-evolve? Using the metaphor of domestication this presentation will look at the dangers and opportunities of both approaches and will introduce delegates to new ideas on platform design, architecture and deployment arising from cognitive and complexity science.

Measuring Awesome Agility – Stop the Weaponization of Metrics and Focus on What Matters!
Agile is best form of software development, since everything else we have tried. But how do we know? What should we be watching to ensure that we are delivering the awesome agility outcomes that Agile promises?
Measuring Agile is not simply about watching velocity and sprint commitments. In an increasingly customer obsessed and data driven world, teams and organizations must have a much more holistic view of the metrics needed for successful outcomes.

If you are picturing a sea of metrics that need to be turned green, then you have the wrong picture. What is needed a surgical focus on the metrics that matter by the teams that deliver your customer value.
This session will introduce the Intuit customer obsessed, outcome focused approach to Agile metrics along with techniques for implementation.

Liberating Agile: Liberating Structures that unleash innovation and engagement
Conventional ways of working together can stifle inclusion and engagement. Conventional structures are either too inhibiting or too loose and disorganized to creatively engage people in shaping their own future. They frequently generate feelings of frustration and/or exclusion and fail to provide space for good ideas to emerge and germinate. Liberating Structures offers an alternative way to approach and design how people work together.
It provides a menu of thirty-three tools to replace or complement conventional practices. Liberating Structures used routinely make it possible to build the kind of organization that everybody wants. Liberating Structures creates an organization and culture of engagement, creativity and participatory leadership. We will use and experiment with various Liberating Structures and see how they can apply to real life organizational challenges, enhanced productivity and greater engagement.

Teaching Agile So It Sticks: Push Knowledge to Expertise
Delivering training is easy. But will they remember it next week? And will they still be doing it months from now? Chances are the answer is, "no.
Training is an integral part of most transitions. Many of these trainings fail due to something called the Forgetting Curve. Without converting knowledge to skillset using hands-on practices, people can't remember what they learned in a class. It's not their fault -  it's simply a human trait. So how do we facilitate effective learning? How can we support learners with effective courses, skills practice, and learning environments?

Alireza and Richard, separately, created and teach Agile courses at Oklahoma State University and Harvard Extension. These courses were designed and thought based on years of experience in teaching, coaching, and consulting in the industry. This session includes creating effective onsite/remote courses as well as excellent learning environments. They guide you through a series of fun activities to create your own Agile curriculum and learning modules. You'll leave with understanding how to design effective learning experiences. This would support your learners with knowledge and expertise that is ready to be used in practice.
